Abstract/Summary:
Guo Wei and Guo Jin,two rare siblings, have emerged in China’s new art forums since the end of the last century. They are in a very self’s point of view to express the real life, but you will find that they show the true and the real, the surface of the is indirect, alienated or photograph, this particular embodiment also let the audience see the younger generation of Chinese artists in the state of life and art concepts, differences and the older generation.Out of curiosity about the similarities that have emerged between the two brothers’ artistic paths,I carefully studied and found many differences.Through material learning and interviews, this paper takes the double exhibition "Bamboo Horse" in 2012 as the starting point, and Guo Wei’s "Mosquito and Moth" series and Guo Jin’s "Rusty Children" series as an example to make a comparative analysis of the two children’s series themed works. In terms of the similarities and differences of the artists’ works, the paper explores the reasons behind their creation, not only the traces brought by the products of The Times, but also the factors of the artists themselves. The "new generation" came into being at the end of the 20th century under the rich artistic atmosphere in Southwest China, which is one of the important reasons that the two artists have some similarities but are different.Through a simple list of the important artistic achievements of the two artists since their first appearance,it is found that during a similar period of time, the two Guo brothers have developed striking similarities in art.The works in the "Mosquito and Moth" series of the elder brother Guo Wei and the "Rusted Children" series of the younger brother Guo Wei,the emergence of the topic selection of "Children",the application of the material of "wall",the focus of attention between "people",the separation between "true" and "false",the formation of Guo’s painting style and so on,all of which are inseparable from the family environment, growth experience and personality of the two artists. This kind of research Angle is also a reference for the scholars who study the Kwok brothers in the future. After all,the two artists have a common upbringing environment, similar family factors, and existing life experiences.Maybe there will be a more wonderful collision relationship between the Kwok brothers in their future artistic road.
