| Project-based learning(PBL)is student-centered and emphasizes solving problems through inquiry and cooperation.It is conducive to promoting students’ ability of thinking and using learning strategies.Therefore,based on Constructivism Theory,Multiple Intelligence Theory,etc.and domestic and foreign researches on PBL and autonomous learning ability,this research introduces PBL into high school English teaching and learning.This research aims to explore the ways students use English,train thinking and improve English autonomous learning ability in the process of project-based language learning,which consists of inquisitive thinking,cooperative communication and sharing evaluation.The main research questions are as follows.(1)What effect does PBL have on the formulation and planning of high school students’ English learning goals?(2)What effect does PBL have on high school students’ English learning strategies?(3)What effect does PBL have on the monitoring and evaluation of the English learning process of high school students?This research takes students from 4 intern classes in the third grade of a high school in Yueyang for a period of 15 weeks.Apart from regular teaching,3 extra projects are conducted in the experimental classes,while the regular teaching is carried out in the control classes.This research adopts an empirical research method that combines quantitative research with qualitative research.Scales,questionnaires,interviews and other research tools are employed for data collection and SPSS 23.0 software is used to perform statistical analysis.The research results show that:(1)PBL has a clear promotion effect on the formulation and planning of high school students’ English learning goals,and their goals and planning concepts are definite.(2)PBL has a clear promotion effect on the use of English learning strategies by high school students.The frequency of their consciously experiencing and using metacognitive and cognitive learning strategies has increased significantly.(3)PBL can guide high school students to monitor and evaluate their English learning,and their ability to monitor the learning process effectively,evaluate inadequacy and progress correctly has improved significantly. |
