| Cooperation generally exists in social life and is an important element in interpersonal communication and social development.Current research focuses on the influence of individual power on cooperative behavior, and explores the moderating role of awe and the mediating role of the small self. This study will further expand related research in the field of power and awe, provide new ideas for weakening the negative effects of power, and provide important theoretical guidance for individuals, organizations and society in terms of cooperation. This study contains three experiments.Experiment 1 used experimental manipulation to induce different levels of power of participants, and used Chicken Game to test their cooperative behavior to verify the influence of power on cooperative behavior.Experiment 2manipulated participants’ different levels of power and added a measure of trait awe, aiming to explore the influence of trait awe and power on cooperative behavior.Experiment 3 used the Generalized Sense of Power Scale to measure the trait power of the participants, induced the participants’ awe or neutral emotions through picture materials, and evaluate the participants’ sense of small self,so as to discuss the moderating role of awe and the mediating role of small self. The results indicated that:(1)Power has a significant influence on cooperation. Both state power and trait power have an impact on the cooperation of individuals, and individuals with low power are more cooperative.(2)Trait awe has a significant impact on cooperative behavior. In the cooperative task, individuals with high trait awe show more cooperative behavior than individuals with low trait awe.(3)Awe plays a moderating role in the influence of trait power on cooperative behavior. In awe group, individuals with low trait power show more cooperative behaviors. |
