| Carson McCullers was an important writer in the American South in the 20 th century.She published many works in a short life,and the value of these works has been paid attention and explored by people.Her four major novels "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter","The Reflection of Golden Eyes","Song of the Sad Cafe" and "The Clock Without Pointers" all touch on the writing of homosexuality without exception.The most notable feature of McCullers’ novels is the attention and description of marginal figures in society,and homosexuals are one of these marginal figures.This thesis starts from the perspective of homosexual writing’ and selects McCullers’ four novels involving homosexual writing in different periods.According to the time sequence of publication,explores the evolutionary context,analyzes the relationship between homosexuality theme and other themes,explores the value and significance of his homosexual writing.McCullers’ early two works can be regarded as the exploratory stage of her gay writing,showing her conservative and tentative attitude,while the mid-stage works show McCullers’ optimistic attitude towards the situation of homosexuals.She is creating The development and breakthrough of the above,the later works once again return to the death ending of the early gay writing,showing McCullers’ concerns about the reality of homosexuals.This article mainly uses queer theory,combined with McCullers’ own sexual choice and life experience,to analyze diachronic evolution,the relationship between homosexuality theme and other themes,his paper expounds the rationality of her homosexual identity and shows her understanding and concern for the marginal figures in society.The article is divided into five parts.The first part is the introduction.It sorts out the dynamics of research on Carson McCullers’ works by academic circles at home and abroad,summarizes the research directions and results of academic circles,and highlights the innovations of this article.The second part introduces queer theory and McCullers as a queer writer.The former appeals to all the possibilities of gender by theory and the latter advocates gender diversity through its own practice and expression in literary works.Both The fit in the concept of gender is based on the queer theory to analyze the homosexuals described by McCullers.In the third part,according to the publication time sequence of McCullers’ four novels involving homosexuality,they are divided into three stages of homosexual writing.the diachronic evolution of McCullers’ homosexual writing is sorted out process.The fourth part explores the relationship between loneliness,disease theme and homosexual theme in McCullers’ novels.Through analyzing the isolation of homosexuals in spirit,loneliness and exclusion of individuals,the author highlights the plight of homosexuals in their lives,and connects the theme of homosexuality with loneliness and disease.The fifth part analyzes the meaning and value of McCullers’ homosexual writing,Encourage people to explore and reflect on the plight of homosexuality,and strengthen their understanding and care for homosexuality.This article attempts to promote the understanding of McCullers and his works by Chinese readers through the discussion of the diachronic evolution and the relationship between homosexual theme and other themes,and also hopes to arouse people’s attention to homosexuality and homosexual writing. |
