| In Chinese literature history,Pu Songling’s "Strange Tales of Liaozhai" and Ji Yun’s "Notes of Yuewei Cottage" can be said to be the peak of short stories in supernatural genre of Qing Dynasty.Although the political and cultural foundations of two works are similar,the styles of two works present a completely different temperament due to the huge differences in the author’s life experience and political status.Therefore,the comparison between the two works has never stopped.Over the years,the comparative research achievements have been fruitful,but there is still a lot of room for comparative study of specific story modes.Among them,revenge stories,especially female revenge stories,are abundant and unique.In the traditional feudal society,women are more vulnerable to all kinds of oppression and bullying than men because of their low social status.Therefore,female revenge stories cannot be ignored in both works.Comparative research on the topic of female revenge stories is not only providing a new perspective,but also has a certain academic value.This paper mainly uses literature research and classification induction to analyze and summarize the story types,revenge motives and methods of female revenge stories,and sort out the similarities and differences.Meanwhile,a comparative study of the life thoughts of Pu Songling and Ji Yun presents the influence of traditional Confucian and Buddhist ideas on the creation of female revenge stories.This paper is divided into four parts.In the first chapter,the types of female revenge stories in the two works have been summarized and classified as four different kinds: the revenge between human to human,human’s revenge to non-human,non-human’s revenge to human and non-human’s revenge to non-human.The four story types involve the relationship between perpetrators and victims,and their perspectives have been extended from humans to non-humans.The story types have the characteristics of transcending reality and entering a heterogeneous world.In the second and third chapter,the motives and methods of female revenge stories in the two works have been summarized and classified as revenge for blood relatives,revenge for oneselves,revenge by loyal servants and chivalrous revenge,aiming to sort out similarities and differences in those stories.The revenge for blood relatives also includes revenge for the elders and revenge for the husband.And revenge for oneselves includes revenge for grievances and revenge of abandoned wives.Refers to methods of revenge,it can be sorted as six perspectives: revenge by supernatural power,revenge by wisdom,revenge by force,revenge by other’s help,revenge by punitive justice and murder their own sons for revenge.Revenge by supernatural power also includes revenge by spell and revenge by transforming into other creatures.The aim of this paper is to explore the female revenge models through multiple sections,combined with the author’s life experience and creative expression techniques,summarize and compare the similarities and differences of the female revenge models in the two works.The fourth chapter compares the life thoughts of Pu Songling and Ji Yun,deepens the perspective of the traditional thoughts in the two works of female revenge stories,and explores its influence on the creation of female revenge stories. |
