| The mode of Machine Translation + Post-editing(hereafter refers to MTPE)combines the advantages of high efficiency of MT and high quality of manual translation,shortens the translation time and reduces the cost,which is suitable for the urgent and highly professional situation,especially sci-tech texts.In order to improve the efficiency of translation projects,translators should constantly improve the quality and efficiency of PE.This translation project was entrusted by a postdoctoral researcher of a university in southwest China to help him apply for national projects.The number of words of the source text is about 16000 English words,and the period is about 20 days.This report,taking the E-C translation task on academic literature in the computer field as an example,in which Baidu translation was used and the translation output of Baidu translation was post edited,makes a comparative study of the machine translation and the edited translation based on the general principles of PE guidelines of Translation Automation Users Society(TAUS).The difficulties in the PE process mainly include guaranteeing the accuracy of terminology translation,recognizing the syntax,formulating the cohesion at the discourse level,and adjusting punctuation and format,etc.In view of the difficulties,the translator mainly used group work,access to authoritative information,consulting professionals,editing in accordance with TAUS’ PE standards and other ways to solve the problem.The result of the study is that some efficient PE strategies are proposed in the aspects of lexical,syntactic,and discourse levels.Based on this practice,the translator puts forward some suggestions,such as translators should pay attention to the different meanings of the same word in different texts to ensure the accuracy of the translation,break the sentence structure,and reorganize the sentence order reasonably.The translator hopes that these suggestions can be helpful for postgraduates engaged in computer technology text translation and its PE. |
