A Practice Report On The English-Chinese Translation Of I Need To Know Based On Machine Translation Combined With Post-editing

With the informatization and globalization carrying forward,increasingly frequent exchanges between different countries lead to rapid growth in information of various languages.In that process,human translation alone is far from being enough to meet the growing needs of the translation industry.In addition,new technologies,including cloud computing,big data and artificial intelligence,have made rapid progress recently,which promotes the renovation of machine translation technology.Although the quality of machine translation has improved,the post-editing is still required.The research of machine translation combined with post-editing method would be important to facilitate the efficiency of human translation and enhance the quality of machine translation,thus especially promoting the application of this method in technical texts.This paper is divided into four parts and analyzes the rational use of machine translation and post-editing in technical texts.The first part describes the background of this translation practice and narrates the significance of machine translation combined with post-editing mode for technical texts in light of the prospects of translation industry.The second part describes the process of translation practice from three aspects,including pre-translation preparation,machine translation and post-editing,and checking and analysis.The third part discusses the strengths and common problems in machine translation of this translation practice from vocabulary,sentence and discourse perspectives,and explores the corresponding post-editing skills.The fourth part summarizes the application of machine translation combined with post-editing mode in technical texts,in the hope that it can be used for reference in translating congeneric texts in the future.
