Research On The Bibliography Of Baochuntang

The Bibliography of Baochuntang is a collection catalogue written by Zhu Wenzao,a great scholar in the Qian-Jiaqing Period of the Qing Dynasty,for the collection of Wang Jie.This book is an important work in private book collection history and bibliography in the Qing Dynasty.Up to now,there are no special research results on this book have been published.This paper makes a systematic study of its bibliography achievements and its historical value in textual research,compilation,and book collection history,to reveal its position in academic history.This article mainly starts from three big aspects of The Bibliography of Baochuntang to conduct the research: First,this paper is based on the previous research results and relevant literature,combs and supplements Zhu Wenzao’s life,friendship,and writings by using the method of combining history and philology.Zhu Wenzao’s academic activities and experience of making friends had an important impact on the formation of his academic system.The study of this will help enrich the current academic research on Zhu Wenzao.The second point is to analyze Zhu Wenzao’s thoughts on the bibliography from the way of description of the book.Because the bibliographic system is an important part of his academic system,most academic circles ignore Zhu Wenzao’s identity as a bibliographer.Through the use of a comparative research method,this paper compares the similarities and differences of the first,second,and third-level categories and category names,book classification standards,and book collection scope between The Bibliography of Baochuntang and Sikuquanshu General Catalogue to explore the cataloguing concept of Zhu Wenzao.Through the case study of the book classification method and classification system of The Bibliography of Baochuntang,expressing the whole through the sample,we can spy on the changes in the book classification method and the evolution direction of the academic fashion in the Qing Dynasty.Thirdly,through the abstract and introduction notes of The Bibliography of Baochuntang to explore the philological value.It includes the value of textual research,the value of compiling scattered materials,and the value of collecting historical materials.This can not only be used as a document for textual research,and compilation,but also enrich the research content of private book collection history in China.In the section on the collection of historical materials,the characteristics of Wang Jie’s book collection are summarized,which is also of reference significance for the study of Wang Jie.The following is a detailed introduction to the main contents of each chapter in this article.The first chapter is about Zhu Wenzao’s life and academic thought.This chapter takes knowing people and commenting on his works as the starting point,and makes a comprehensive introduction to Zhu Wenzao’s family background,life experience,friendship,and writings.A comprehensive introduction to Zhu Wenzao will help readers better understand Zhu Wenzao and his academic level.The second chapter is the book background and the main content of The Bibliography of Baochuntang.It is divided into the era background and Zhu Wenzao’s academic background to discuss the book background.The main content,classifies and analyzes the bibliographic contents,and summarizes the characteristics of Zhu Wenzao’s cataloging.The third chapter is the bibliographic characteristics of The Bibliography of Baochuntang.This chapter is divided into five sections to further explore the bibliographic characteristics contained in the book from the following five aspects: the book classification system,the setting of category and category name,the form of the book description,and the description of abstract and introductory notes.It also evaluates the advantages and disadvantages of the setting of category,and category name,and comprehensively explores Zhu Wenzao’s bibliographic system.The fourth chapter is the philological value of The Bibliography of Baochuntang.By the text content of the book and relevant materials such as Lianting Bibliography,Preface to Zhibuzuzhai Series,Lin Binggong Collection,and Wang Wenduangong Chronicle to explore the textual research value,the compiling scattered materials value,the collecting historical materials value in The Bibliography of Baochuntang.On the one hand,the book provides a basis for future generations to examine books,seek books according to the catalog,and solicit articles and textual research work.On the other hand,the collection seals and the book collection of bibliophiles recorded in the book are also of great significance to the study of the change of books and the collection seals.
