In order to commemorate the 80 th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese workers’ and peasants’ Red Army in the Long March, the National Grand Theater created and arranged a large-scale epic National Opera "the long march".The opera uses realistic techniques and linear narrative methods to perfectly present the bitter, hard and simple military style of the workers’ and peasants’ Red Army on the road of the long march at that time,as well as the glorious course of the Red Army’s unremitting struggle, courage and fear of sacrifice. The opera "Long March" is not only a major achievement of Chinese national opera, but also the inheritance and development of the spirit of the long march of national culture. The tenor Aria "in a cold night" is an excerpt from the second act of the opera "bloody battle on the Xiangjiang River".It tells that in October 1934,after the fifth anti "encirclement and suppression" was defeated, the Chinese workers’ and peasants’ red army withdrew from Ruijin for strategic transfer.Once the head of a Red Army regiment and political commissar Peng led a part of the wounded team to embark on the long march. After leaving Ruijin’s Xiangjiang campaign, the red army encountered the worst battle of the long march. In the "encirclement and suppression" of the enemy ten times that of mine, the blood stained Xiangjiang River. After a fierce battle, the enemy was finally repulsed.Facing the soldiers who survived, exhausted and sleeping, political commissar Peng sang "in the cold night",expressing his infinite praise and emotion for the comrades of the Red Army and his outlook for the ideal. At the most critical moment of the revolution, the vast number of soldiers were greatly inspired, strengthened their faith and determination, fought for their ideals and never retreated."Cold night" is the first aria of the hero political commissar Peng.Although it is only six minutes,it embodies the revolutionary ideal of the workers’ and peasants’ Red Army and their attachment to their comrades in arms.In terms of musical techniques, the surface is plain, but there are changes in reality. From the previous affectionate narration to the surging March, and finally to the climax, the composer also has carefully designed changes in tonality,so that the masses can feel the ups and downs of political commissar Peng’s heart when enjoying the Opera. This paper takes the Aria "in the cold night" as the main research object.Based on the author’s collection of relevant materials, careful browsing of the opera script and combined with his own artistic practice, this paper will make a comprehensive and in-depth analysis of the song, including the creative background, musical structure, musical characteristics, singing and stage performance of the aria In-depth description, interpretation and comprehensive analysis of the influence of characters.Let more contemporary young people and students have a more intuitive understanding of the spirit of the long march.
