The Study Of Interpretation Of President Xi Jinping Speeches At China International Import Expo Under The Perspective Of Hermeneutics

With the improvement of China’s comprehensive national strength since the reform and opening up,China’ s influence in the international community has also increased day by day.As one of the representatives of China’s comprehensive national strength,China International Import Expo（CIIE）is the only national-level exhibition held in Shanghai with the theme of import.The study of interpretation of President Xi Jinping’s keynote speeches in international conferences has become the main content since the last decade.Therefore,the thesis selects interpretation material of Xi Jinping speeches from the First to Fourth CIIE as the case analysis material,with the application of hermeneutics to research and analyze.This thesis analyzes the interpretations of Xi Jinping keynote speeches from the 1st to 4th CIIE within the framework of George Steiner’s Fourfold Translation Motion Theory.The Fourfold Translation Motion Theory includes trust,aggression,incorporation and compensation.Among them,trust refers to the meaning and function to the interpreter,the aggression analysis is done at the cultural level and the word level,the incorporation analysis the meaning level and the formal level,and in the compensation analysis,it focuses on the use of translation techniques of omission and addition in the interpretation.This research shows that hermeneutics has a guiding role for the interpretation of President Xi Jinping’s speeches at international conferences and it also gives the theoretical guidance for the relevant interpretation research of the CIIE.The researcher hopes that the research results of this paper can provide certain theoretical and materials support for later researchers.
