| This report focuses on the translation of children literature from the perspective of reception aesthetics based on the translation of Alicia D.Williams’ novel Genesis Begins Again, trying to summarize some translation strategies based on specific cases.Genesis Begins Again narrates the life experience of its heroine with concise and childlike language, interesting and vivid plots as well as abundant cultural elements. In order to reproduce the childish fun and make the translated text more approachable and acceptable, the translator first adopt interjections, modal particles and reduplicated words to transform the original form to make the translated version more authentic.Furthermore, the translator bridges the gaps between Chinese and English through changing the passive voice to the active voice, simplifying sentence structure and adding annotations. Finally, the translator focuses on the intralingual and pragmatic meanings of the rhetorical devices in the original text, and makes corresponding transformations in combination with the specific context to recreate the childish fun of the original text to the maximum extent.Based on the E-C translation of Genesis Begins Again under the guidance of reception aesthetics, this report attempts to review the translated version with some cases excerpted from the task and summarize some strategies in terms of words and expressions, sentence structures, cultural elements, rhetorical devices. It is hoped that this report can lay the foundation for the translator’s future career, and also provide references for the translation of children’s literature. |
