| As China and the world interact more and more closely,Chinese language learning is welcomed by people around the world,and more and more international students are coming to China to learn Chinese and experience Chinese culture.In cross-cultural communication,people from different cultural backgrounds invariably create cultural barriers in the communication process,and cultural empathy is one effective way to resolve such issues.People from different cultural backgrounds are bound to create cultural barriers in the process of communication,and cultural empathy is one of the effective means to solve such problems.Cultivating cultural empathy helps international students to consciously shift their cultural stance in the process of intercultural communication,break their inherent national cultural mindset,and narrow the psychological distance caused by different values between different cultures.Being able to truly understand and appreciate the culture of the target language in the process of learning it will not only stimulate international students’ interest in learning,but also increase their motivation to learn the language.Therefore,in teaching Chinese as a foreign language,developing foreign students’ cultural empathy is a very important part.This paper consists of six main sections:The first part is the introduction,which mainly introduces the reason of selecting the topic,the purpose and significance of the topic,and the current status of the research,in addition to a brief description of the research method of this paper.The second part is the relevant conceptual and theoretical foundation part of this paper.An overview is given for the definition of the sources of empathy and cultural empathy,the psychological mechanisms of cultural empathy,the theoretical basis of cultural empathy development and the principles of cultural empathy development.The third part is the investigation and analysis section on the cultural empathy of international students.This includes a questionnaire survey and analysis of international students,and interviews and analysis of relevant teachers,From this,we learn the current status of cultural empathy of international students.The fourth section describes the main factors affecting cultural empathy,including cultural differences,linguistic differences,stereotypes and prejudices,and ethnocentrism to analyze.The fifth part lists specific ways to cultivate cultural empathy among international students and puts forward relevant rationalization suggestions from both teachers’ and students’ perspectives.Finally,the concluding section concludes the thesis.The author believes that it is necessary for international students to develop cultural empathy in intercultural communication,but there are still some problems that need to be solved.The innovations and shortcomings of the thesis are also introduced. |
