| The Romance of the West Chamber,a Beijing Opera,was written by Tian Han in 1958 according to the story of the Western Chamber by Wang Shifu,and was first performed by Zhang Junqiu,Ye Shenglan,Du Jinfang and others in 1959.It is one of the representative plays of Zhang（Junqiu）School.For the first time,the play put the complete story of the West Chamber into practice in the form of Peking Opera.Taking The Romance of the West Chamber of Peking Opera as the research object,this paper discusses the artistic characteristics of The Romance of the West Chamber of Peking Opera from the perspectives of story evolution,text creation and stage performance through the perspective of the performance of the west Chamber story on the stage of modern Peking Opera.The introduction mainly expounds the origin and significance of the topic selection,and summarizes the story evolution of "West Chamber Opera",the stage art characteristics of Zhang Junqiu and the research status of Peking Opera The Romance of the West Chamber.The text is divided into three parts.The first chapter traces the artistic tradition of Peking Opera The Romance of the West Chamber,and reveals that the development of the traditional West Chamber Opera is mainly based on the adaptation and continuation of Wang Shifu’s story of the West Chamber as the clue of the artistic tradition.The second chapter discusses the emergence and development of Peking Opera The Romance of the West Chamber,starting with the specific text creation and stage performance,and examines Zhang Junqiu’s previous performances of Peking Opera The Romance of the West Chamber,as well as the changes of the script since 1970 s,and discusses the artistic features and achievements of Peking Opera The Romance of the West Chamber.The third chapter examines the "West Chamber Opera" in the history of Beijing Opera,compares The Romance of the West Chamber and Hongniang,and analyzes their similarities and differences in literary and artistic values from the aspects of plot content,characters and language.By systematically considering the Peking Opera The Romance of the West Chamber,we further clarify the artistic tradition of the development and evolution of "West Chamber Opera" since ancient times,and clarify the reasons why the Peking Opera The Romance of the West Chamber has become a classic.The Romance of the West Chamber,the Beijing Opera,as a classic literary masterpiece,reappears on the stage of modern drama,and deserves the attention that matches its literary and artistic value. |
