From "Cyberspace" To "Meta-Universe":the Development And Evolution Of Virtual Reality Science Fiction

After the end of the Second World War,due to its cruelty and irrationality,the past popular modernism thought was gradually suspected by intellectuals,writers and artists.The certainty of things and the stability of their meaning are abandoned.Thus,almost simultaneously in the 1960 s,existentialism and postmodernism became popular in Europe and the United States.A new wave movement of various forms aims to reform the existence form of art.There is also a debate in the science fiction field.As the result and practice of the debate,a large number of so-called "soft science fiction works" were born,which are uniformly called the "new wave of science fiction" because of their common existentialist ideological background and the creation principles of postmodernism.Science fiction thus entered the vision of literary critics.The new wave of science fiction made science fiction get rid of the vulgar hat,made science fiction enter the world,and profoundly influenced the creation of later science fiction writers.And virtual reality science fiction as a part of the new wave movement,created by Philip Dick,and by William Gibson,Neil Stephenson and others,make virtual reality science fiction become one of the mainstream of the cyberpunk movement,the works deeply discusses the existence of people and the relationship between the objective world.The paper is divided into three parts: the first part is the foundation of the literature and the ideal shape;the second part is the virtual reality science fiction in the 1960 s and 1970 s and the 1980 s and the turn of the century,which explains the development and evolution of virtual reality science fiction in the world.This paper aims to deeply view the development process of virtual reality science fiction from different disciplines.Through the view of the dark future and gaze at self again,virtual reality science fiction based on postmodernism creation paradigm and existentialist spirit,once again examine the existence of human self meaning and form,and the relationship between people and the objective world,through all free will and self thinking,even subjective reality is bound by machine and technology of the dark future,to establish the human self frame of existence or not of reference.
