Ecodrama is theatre that focuses on the survival and development of human beings and on ecological issues, and can be traced back as far as Ibsen’s The Enemy of the People in 1882.The issue of coexistence between industry and ecology began to receive attention in the 20th century, when eco-drama began to enter the Chinese perspective, from Sun Huizhu and Fei Chunfang’s The Chinese Dream to Gao Xingjian’s The Wild Man and Guo Shixing’s The Fish Man.The development of Chinese eco-drama has moved from expository criticism to philosophical reflection on ecological issues.Nowadays,we often discuss green water and green mountains together with golden mountains, and people’s ecological concepts are progressing because of the changes in Chinese society, and a new understanding of the relationship between human beings and ecology has become the key to the development of Chinese eco-drama.This paper is mainly based on the creation of the play "Nostalgia Like Water",and seeks to explore the new direction of ecological theatre development in China in the new era through a summary of personal creative experience and theoretical research on existing ecological theatre. The introductory part mainly includes the purpose of the thesis research, the research method, the current situation of the research and the conception of the play. This part of the thesis is divided into three chapters. The first chapter discusses the main features of the play’s characterisation, dramatic techniques, structural techniques and the creative process, starting from the perspective of the scriptwriting method. The second chapter discusses the expression of the relationship between man and nature in the creation of the play from the perspective of regional culture and folklore characteristics. The third chapter develops reflections on the creation of eco-drama by analysing the play’s themes, with the progress of the times driving the enrichment of the spiritual core of eco-drama.This thesis argues that eco-drama creation should not be confined to attacking and exposing ecological problems.Changes in the natural environment and changes in social ecology are also issues that eco-drama should focus on.If Chinese eco-drama is to develop,it must rethink the relationship between human beings and nature and seek new changes in the face of the tide of the times. |
