The Peace Diet says,"Social reformers and spiritual teachers have been concerned with the importance of eating habits and attitudes since time immemorial.Food is not only necessary for people’s livelihood,but also the main symbol of human culture and inner life.Food is the source and metaphor of life,love,generosity,celebration,entertainment,security,access and use." Therefore,for Chinese people,diet is not only to meet the basic physiological needs,but more importantly,food often contains profound philosophical thoughts.Food has a cultural significance beyond "eating".Since the broadcast of food documentary "A Bite of China",food works are more and more favored by creators and audiences.The simple themes,close to the life of the audience and strong inclusiveness make this kind of theme more attractive to the audience.The continuous development of new media and the update and iteration of network technology also provide a new documentary form for food documentary--micro documentary.In recent years,more and more creators combine food culture with the art form of micro-record,and food micro-documentary emerges at the historic moment.This paper takes Laswell’s "5W mode" in communication as the main theory,supplemented by part of narrative theory,and takes breakfast China,Origin of Flavor Yunnan,Origin of Flavor Chaoshan,Origin of Flavor Guiyang,Origin of Flavor Food and other works as the main research text.This paper explores the communication strategies and narrative characteristics of food micro-documentaries in China as well as the current difficulties and solutions of this type of documentary.This paper is divided into four chapters.The introduction part mainly sorts out the research status of food micro-documentaries.The first chapter describes the concept of food micro-documentary,sorts out its development history and characteristics,and analyzes the traditional food culture of China through the analysis of food micro-documentary.The second chapter is the main part of the paper,through the application of Laswell’s "5W theory" in communication studies to study the specific works of food micro-documentaries and analyze their communication strategies.The third chapter summarizes the communication status of food micro-documentaries in China,analyzes the difficulties encountered in the communication of this type of documentary,and provides solutions for the communication of food micro-documentaries in China.
