| This thesis consists of two parts: the translation practice of Evaluating the Evaluator: A Novel Perspective on Translation Quality Assessment（chapter2）and the translation report based on EnglishChinese translation practice.This translation practice is excerpted from the book by Hansj?rg Bittner — Evaluating the Evaluator: A Novel Perspective on Translation Quality Assessment published by Routledge in2020,which summarizes the relevant studies of translation quality assessment,traces the various factors that affect translation quality,and finally proposes a new framework for translation assessment.The author myself selects the Chapter2 which discusses some translation quality assessment approaches as the translation material,aiming to provide some thinking for teachers,students and practitioners in the field of translation.Function Plus Loyalty Theory proposed by Christian Nord emphasizes not only the treatment of interpersonal relationship among the original author,the target language readers,the initiator and the translator but also the achievement of original text function.Therefore,under the guidance of this theory,considering the principles of function and loyalty,the translator analyzes the source text from the three levels of vocabulary,syntax and text with specific examples and strives to coordinate the relationship between the original author and the target readers.The paper is composed of five parts: task description,translation process,theoretical foundation,case analysis and summary.The first part includes the introduction of the source text and the significance of this translation task.The second part describes the three translation stages:pre-translation,translation process and post translation.The third part illustrates Nord’s Function Plus Loyalty Theory and explains the reasons why it can be applied into translation practice.The fourth part discusses case analysis,which mainly analyzes the source text from the lexical,syntactic and textual levels.During the translation,some appropriate translation methods such as word meaning selection,sentence order adjustment,voice conversion,cohesion and supplement,split and reorganization are adopted to better realize the translation function.The last part is the conclusion,which summarizes some reflections from the translation process and the deficiencies in translation practice.This translation practice is a new attempt to explore academic text translation,which realizes the function of source text and enhances the readability of target text.And this translation report will have some implications for future academic translation studies. |
