Juliet Mitchell’s Theory Of "Four Major Structures"

Juliet Mitchell is the representative of Marxist feminism.Her thought not only deepens the Marxist theory of women’s liberation,widens the new perspective of traditional feminist research,and has higher theoretical value,but also helps to wake up the awakening of women’s subject consciousness,safeguard women’s legitimate rights and interests,and further promote social progress,which embodies certain reality significance.Mitchell’s most classic theory is the "four structures" theory of women,which is the continuation of Marxist theory of women’s liberation.Its four structures include: production structure,birth structure,sexual relationship structure and children’s socialization structure.Mitchell pointed out that the social problems embodied in the "four structures" were the main reasons for women’s oppression.She regarded the four structures as a unified whole.In order to liberate women completely,the four structures must be reformed at the same time.Based on Marxist theory of women’s liberation,this paper analyzes Mitchell’s "four structures" theory of women.On the one hand,it uses the method of contrast to find the place where Mitchell’s "four major structures" theory and Marxist theory of women’s Liberation fit,and makes the key analysis and research;on the other hand,it makes the dialectical research on Mitchell’s "four major structures" theory.The full text is divided into three parts,the first part mainly includes the background and basic content of Mitchell’s "four structures" theory;the second part is mainly based on the perspective of Marxist women’s liberation theory,giving Mitchell’s "four structures" theory a Marxist Interpretation,mining the real reasons for oppression of women;the third part is to carry out the "four structures" theory of Mitchell Dialectical analysis,interpretation and interpretation of its theoretical value and practical significance and historical limitations.The first part includes the main contents of the first chapter,the second chapter and the third chapter.The first chapter mainly describes the purpose and significance of the research,research trends at home and abroad,research content and research methods,research innovation and difficulties.The second chapter mainly analyzes the conditions of Mitchell’s "four structures" theory from the background of the times and the origin of the theory.The third chapter mainly analyzes the main contents of the four structures from production structure,birth structure,sexual relationship structure and children’s socialization structure.By studying the basic contents of Mitchell’s theory of "four major structures",it paves the way for the research of chapter four and chapter five.The second part includes chapter four and chapter five,which are the key parts of this paper.The fourth chapter first explains the basic content of Marxist theory of women’s liberation.The root of women’s oppression is private ownership,and the essence is class oppression.The goal of women’s liberation is discussed from three aspects: economic,political and human’s all-round freedom.The path of women’s liberation is mainly discussed from two aspects:eliminating private ownership,proletarian liberation and women’s liberation.The second part mainly expounds the inheritance and development of Mitchell’s "four structures" theory to Marxist theory of women’s liberation.The third part is the content of the fifth chapter,which mainly uses the method of dialectical analysis to explain the historical limitations,theoretical significance and practical significance of Mitchell’s "four major structures" theory.
