| This paper intends to make use of the basic methods of historical research--the method of textual research and document analysis to clarify the social environment in which the North Korean people lived when the Kuomintang government entered Northeast China,and it tries to summarize the policy changes of the Kuomintang government towards the North Korean people in the Northeast of China under different political needs and the reasons for them.On this basis,it will explore the countermeasures of the North Korean society.And it also describes the Korean groups and individuals who had made adequate contribution to the North Korean society for this era.It consists of the following five chapters:The first chapter is divided into three sections,which it respectively describes the purpose and significance of the research,the current situation and trends of the research,the research methods and contents.The second chapter examines the social environment of the North Koreans and the Kuomintang’s presence in Northeast China.The third chapter sorts out the Kuomintang’s early policy towards the Korean people and the Korean people’s activities to fight for the right to live.The fourth chapter analyzes the changes and reasons of Kuomintang’s policy towards the Korean people,and further analyzes the way out and choice of the Korean people in "KMT-controlled areas".The fifth chapter is the conclusion.According to the different policies adopted by the Kuomintang in different stages of the civil war,it summarizes the process of the Northeast Korean people’s struggle for the right to survive.The study shows that the persecution of the Northeast Korean people during the China’s War of Liberation can be summarized into three sources,the national government,the political bandits and the ordinary people in Northeast China.The main means of oppression by the national government are confiscating Korean assets and repatriating Korean people back to the Korean Peninsula,which has a strong lasting impact on Korean society.In order to unite the Northeast Koreans,the Korean groups had taken three major measures to publicize the friendship between China and South Korea,to raise money for the persecuted Koreans,and to apply for the formation of self defense forces.The Kuomintang government had to consider that the above situation would bring many adverse effects on the development of Sino-Korean Relation in the future.It had to consider the attraction of the national equality policy formulated by the Communist Party of the liberated areas to the Korean people under its rule.It could not ignore the traditional friendly relations between the Shanghai provisional government of the Republic of Korea and the Kuomintang,and used the provisional government of the Republic of Korea to put pressure on the Kuomintang.Finally,it changed the policy towards the Northeast Koreans.In the face of the social environment at that time,the North Koreans in the "KMT-controlled areas" of Northeast China faced with four ways out during the war of liberation.The first choice was to follow the Communist Party of China and establish a peaceful,democratic and independent China.Secondly,some of the Northeast Koreans who were Japanese puppet officials,military police and some landlords and capitalists advocated following the Kuomintang.There were still some people who advocated that the Northeast Koreans should support the Communist Party to take power in North Korea with practical actions and established an independent new country with the people as masters.This was the way out for the Korean nation.Finally,some of the Koreans who had long been influenced by Korean nationalism hoped to return to South Korea and joined hands with Chiang Kaishek’s Kuomintang to realize Sino-ROK Cooperation.It should be pointed out that the majority policy proposed by the Kuomintang government towards the Korean people was stillborn.On the contrary,in order to protect the North Korean people in Northeast China,the Communist Party of China sent Korean volunteers to all parts of the Northeast,which reflected the ethnic policy of a fundamentally different nature from that of the Kuomintang government.The Korean people in the Northeast gradually gained the national identity — the Chaoxian nationality,which settled in China and began a new chapter. |
