Securitization Of The COVID-19 Pandemic In Indonesia During The State Of Emergency

The SARS-CoV-2 or Covid-19 virus pandemic in Indonesia is undergoing a process of securitization in an effort to eliminate threats.This threat includes in the health sector where the number of Indonesians who are positive for Covid-19 in early 2021 has surpassed 1,000,000 people and the death rate is still large.Besides that,another threat from the Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in weak economic growth in Indonesia and many other effects.Until early 2021,the Indonesian government was still unable to control the spread of Covid-19 in Indonesia.Securitization is a solution for Indonesia to face Covid-19.This research explains the securitization process carried out by several actors in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia.In addition,this study also explains how far the securitization efforts taken by actors are in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia and seeing whether the COVID-19 issue has subsided or has actually caused other impacts from securitization efforts.The securitization process can be analyzed through several methods,namely actors of securitization,Speech Act,existential threat,referent objects,and extraordinary measures can explain the process of securitization of Covid-19 in Indonesia.This study uses qualitative methods.
