Research On The Impact Of Japanese Strategic Culture On Abe’s "Value Diplomacy"

This paper takes Abe’s "values diplomacy" and Japan’s strategic culture as the research object to investigate the internal relationship between them.As Japan’s longest postwar prime minister,Abe has exerted a profound influence on Japan’s domestic and foreign affairs.Among them,the strategy of "values diplomacy" proposed in the diplomatic field has attracted extensive attention from the international community.Abe’s "values diplomacy" holds high the principle of "sharing democratic values",which defines the principles and points out the direction for Japan’s diplomacy at a new stage of historical development,and highlights the Abe administration’s new thinking on international relations.Analysis the cause of the diplomatic strategy,scholars generally believe that concern for the interests of the real Abe "values diplomacy" form the dominant factors,however,for the determination of the diplomatic strategy in the target,threat judgment,choice of cooperation mode,ways of foreign use of particularity,the research perspective does not provide sufficient explanations.Therefore,this paper tries to find out the strategic cultural factors behind Abe’s "values diplomacy" by taking strategic culture as the entry point and analyzing the connotation,expression forms and development characteristics of Japan’s strategic culture.This paper holds that the evolution of Japanese strategic culture is characterized by value dominance,historical continuity and functional flexibility.The influence of Japan’s strategic culture on Abe’s "values diplomacy" is also reflected in many aspects.To be specific,under the influence of the consciousness of great power,the Abe government intends to improve the national image through "values diplomacy",and on this basis,it finally achieves the strategic purpose of amending the Constitution and becoming a "political great power".In terms of strategic threat judgment,the Abe government regards China as the biggest threat in its development process,and carries out ideological containment and containment of China through "values diplomacy",which essentially reflects the hierarchical order consciousness shown by the Japanese people when facing China.In terms of the choice of cooperation mode,the reason why the Japanese choose to unite with Europe and the United States in the aspect of "values" precisely reflects the deep-rooted collectivism and the concept of relying on the strong in the heart of the Japanese.In terms of concrete diplomatic application,Abe’s "values diplomacy" has repeatedly broken the diplomatic principle of "sharing democratic values",thus showing obvious features of realism,which is obviously influenced by the pragmatism thought in Japanese strategic culture.Therefore,from the internal connection between Abe’s "values diplomacy" and Japan’s strategic culture,it can be seen that strategic culture still plays an important role in Japan’s domestic and foreign affairs.
