The Horn of Africa refers to the Northeastern African Countries of Sudan,Eritrea,Ethiopia,Somalia and Djibouti.Turkey’s ties with African countries date back to the16 th century,during the Ottoman Empire,which extended its influence in Africa from1566-1683 to include parts of Sudan,Ethiopia,Djibouti and Somalia in the Horn of Africa.After the disintegration of the Ottoman Empire,Turkey,as its successor,did not systematically formulate its policy towards Africa for a long time.After entering the 21 st century,as Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development Party took office,Turkey began to attach importance to Africa to the important role of Turkey’s national interests,especially after Mr Erdogan visiting Somalia in 2011,Turkey began to vigorously strengthen the existence of the Horn of Africa: the political side,and African Countries set up five years at the summit of the soil;Strengthening humanitarian assistance to the Horn of Africa countries through such channels as official and non-governmental institutions;Through a variety of military cooperation agreements with countries in the Horn of Africa,aimed at helping the Horn of Africa to train counterterrorism forces;Use soft-power tools such as education and religion to project a good image in the Horn of Africa.Turkey’s choice of the Horn of Africa as the focus of the foreign policy,mainly based on the key position in the horn of Africa is in the midst of the global trade routes is advantageous to the development of foreign trade,Turkey,Turkey under the Justice and Development Party’s ruling political and economic stability,powerful promote transformational diplomacy,political hope with the help of the African Union to support and expand the interests of the trade market to reshape the image of power demands.Turkey’s increasing ties with the Horn of Africa have also had an important impact on regional and international relations.On the one hand,it will help the Horn of Africa fight terrorism and maintain maritime security.On the other hand,the rivalry between Turkey and the Gulf has forced the Horn of Africa Countries to face some political choices and even the risk of falling into geopolitical conflict.Therefore,on the basis of briefly tracing the evolution of the relationship between Turkey and the Horn of Africa,this paper focuses on analyzing the performance,causes and effects of Turkey’s involvement in the Horn of Africa in recent years,in order to deeply understand the international problems caused by Turkey’s involvement in the Horn of Africa.
