| With the development of society,China have attached great importance to the issue of domestic violence against women.In 2016,the Anti-Domestic Violence Law of the People’s Republic of China was issued,and the provincial legislations have been constantly made new progress.China’s anti-domestic violence legislation has reached a new level.However,the problem of domestic violence against women is still severe,especially in rural areas.It has seriously affected women’s physical and mental health,threatened their life safety,damaged their family harmony,and even threatened the stability of society,while having not attracted enough attention.As a subject with scientific methods,social work has unique advantages in intervening in rural domestic violence.The development of rural social work in the context of rural revitalization provides an opportunity for social work to intervene in rural domestic violence.Emphasizing on helping people to help themselves,it takes "empowerment" as a core perspective in the practice to provide a new way for the prevention of domestic violence against women in rural areas.Therefore,it is of certain significance to study the prevention of domestic violence of rural women and why they are disempowered,and to put forward intervention approaches from the perspective of empowerment.This study adopts literature research and case interview as research methods.The author takes seven cases happening in different rural areas of Y province as examples to learn the current situation of domestic violence against rural women,and how the battered women,women’s federation,police,social workers respond to the domestic violence.Then it is analyzed why the rural battered women are disempowered in the domestic violence prevention,and finally the way to empower the battered women was put forward.It can be seen from this study that the attitudes of rural women seeking help after domestic violence are generally divided into three types: positive response,negative tolerance and violence against violence.When the victims change their ideas of violence and get support from the social network,they tend to take positive measures to deal with it instead of tolerance in the early days;and reversely,they respond negatively,and may even choose to "fight violence with violence".The grass-rooted organizations take different methods to deal with the domestic violence.The women’s federation adopts propaganda,mediation and providing resources,and the police would like to give priority to mediation,and sometimes disciplinary measure if necessary.Social workers usually adopt the method of case work and community work,emphasizing on offering direct assistance and empowering battered women.In the process of prevention and intervention of domestic violence,the reason why the battered women were disempowered was their lack of personal resources,lack of social support,and constraints of traditional social concepts.On this basis,the author proposes ways to prevent the domestic violence from the perspective of empowerment: to enhance battered women’s awareness and ability at the personal level,to strengthen their support network at the interpersonal level,and promote the advocacy and education in the societal level.They interact with each other,and finally achieve the empowerment of women. |
