With the promulgation of the healthy China 2030 plan and the health needs of the people in this year’s new outbreak of coronary heart disease,health security has undoubtedly become the first topic.Under the background of China’s aging population and the new birth policy,the age structure of Chinese family population presents the trend of aging and fewer children.At the same time,China’s commercial health insurance develops steadily,but its scale is small,people’s acceptance of it is low,and the demand for commercial health insurance needs to be explored.Therefore,it is of theoretical and practical significance to study the influence of family age structure on the demand of commercial health insurance for grasping the changes of China’s population age structure and promoting the development of health insurance market.Based on the life cycle theory,Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory and information asymmetry theory,this thesis explores the influence mechanism of family population age structure on family commercial health insurance demand,and introduces the relationship between China’s overall and family population age structure and the development of family commercial health insurance present situation.In the empirical analysis,this thesis uses the data of China Family Finance Survey in 2017 to build Probit and Tobit regression models to analyze how the substitution variables of family age structure and other related variables affect the demand for commercial health insurance.According to the theoretical and empirical analysis,the following conclusions are drawn:(1)the higher the proportion of children in the family,the greater the demand for commercial health insurance;the lower the proportion of the elderly in the family,the less the demand for commercial health insurance.(2)The demand of family commercial health insurance is also influenced by the household head characteristic variable and economic property variable: the small and medium-sized family,the head of household’s age,the education level,the level of family income,the holding of financial assets,the possession of real estate and the expenditure of social medical insurance have positive effects on the demand of family commercial health insurance;the head of household is male,the head of household health and the degree of risk aversion have positive effects on the demand of family commercial health insurance;the head of household is male,the head of household health and the degree The demand of family commercial health insurance has a restraining effect;finally,the influence of family population age structure on the demand of commercial health insurance also shows some regional differences and urban-rural differences.According to the conclusions of this thesis and the current situation of China’s economy and society,this thesis puts forward corresponding suggestions from three aspects of government departments,insurance companies and families,reasonably grasp the age structure of Chinese family population,and provide a new perspective for the research and development of commercial health insurance demand.
