A Study Of The Red Journal China Today(1934-1936)

In the 1930s,the environment at home and abroad in China was extremely complicated,and the situation in the Far East was extremely critical.The Communist Party of China in the underground state,the encircled and blockaded revolutionary base areas,and the Red Army of workers and peasants,besieged and intercepted,have no time to devote too much energy to the propaganda work of foreign public opinion.The outside world can only get a glimpse of the line,principles and policies of the Communist Party of China,the Red Revolutionary base areas and the status and fighting conditions of the Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army through some fragmented,one-sided and distorted reports.Most American citizens cannot even find the exact location of China on a map.Under this background,"China Today" was born in New York,USA in January 1934."China today" is a dedicated to the far east affairs especially China affairs publication,the periphery of the name is the communist party organization,the "American friends of the Chinese people" the official organ of the(AFCP),the actual bearing the weight of the mission of the communist party of China’s foreign propaganda,it will be China’s revolutionary movement in time and transmit the information to overseas Chinese anti-Japanese struggle,questioning and criticizing the compromise attitude of the Nationalist Government and exposing the appeasement policy of the imperialists to the Japanese Fascists are conducive to gaining the understanding and support of the Chinese Communist Party’s policies and propositions from the people of western countries and all walks of life.This paper chooses the "red journal China Today(1934-1936)" as the research object.The main reason why this period of the journal is chosen as the research scope is that the propaganda content of "China Today" underwent an obvious change during this period.From1934 to 1935,"China Today" exposed the Kuomintang government’s brutal suppression of the people’s revolution led by the Communist Party of China,and focused on the class struggle to overthrow the Kuomintang regime headed by Chiang Kai-shek.With the opening of the Seventh Communist International Congress,"China Today" focuses on exposing the Japanese imperialists’ ambition and intention of invading China,aiming at the Asia-Pacific region and threatening world peace.It attacked the dark politics of the Kuomintang capitulators who compromised with Japan and suppressed the resistance against Japan.There is an urgent need for political unity to eliminate the threat of fascism to the people around the world.In October1936,after Ji Chaoding and others left "China Today","China Today" continued to be published as a smaller publication with a lower cost,resulting in less and less influence.Therefore,this paper focuses on the study of the transition period of "China Today" from 1934 to 1936,which is the most influential and significant three years for the magazine.
