| Women’s employment is an important part of women’s liberation.In the early stage of People’s Republic of China,women in Shanghai,like women in other cities,were deeply oppressed by the traditional feudal system and imprisoned by feudal thought.However,due to the unique geographical location of Shanghai,women in Shanghai accepted the influence of western culture earlier and had a more open mind,which created unique advantages for urban women’s employment in the early stage of People’s Republic of China.This paper focuses on Shanghai,a city with unique status and characteristics in politics,economy and culture,to study the situation of urban women’s employment in Shanghai from 1949 to 1956,and focuses on the content of policy and practice.The text of this paper consists of four parts.The first part is the background of urban women’s employment in Shanghai from 1949 to 1956,including two parts: historical basis and realistic conditions.The second part is the government policy on women’s employment from 1949 to 1956,including the new marriage law,the policy of equal pay for equal work,the maternity security system,ideological and cultural education.The third part is the practice of urban women’s employment in Shanghai from 1949 to1956,including the stages,methods and characteristics of practice.The fourth part is the enlightenment of urban women’s employment in Shanghai from 1949 to1956,including three main enlightenments.The third part is the focus of this paper.This paper holds that the needs of the CPC and national production and construction in the early stage of People’s Republic of China created a good employment environment for women’s employment,which is the most important condition for women to go out of their home and participate in work.At the same time,women’s active struggle and brave practice also played a key role in this women’s liberation movement.In the new era,women’s employment still faces various challenges and difficulties.The policies and practices of promoting women’s employment in the early stage of People’s Republic of China are still worthy of our study and reflection. |
