| As an important part of the four skills of foreign language,listening and speaking play an important role in English teaching.However,in the current primary school teaching,tradition teaching method will ignore the cultivation of students’ interests in learning English and the application of listening strategies.Aiming at this question,a new learning model,CALL,are becoming the main trend of modern teaching.This study attempts to explore the role of CALL in primary school students’ English listening and speaking learning,and to solve the practical questions in the traditional teacher-centered listening and speaking teaching.Three research questions are to be addressed:1.To what extent can CALL(computer-assisted language learning)with animation and video with captions influence the listening learning motivation of students in rural primary school?2.What is the difference in the use of listening strategies between students in CALL environment and students in traditional class in primary school?3.To what extent can English listening influence English speaking in CALL environment?The empirical study was carried out in Fenhe Primary School in Shanxi Province.It lasted 12 weeks from September 5,2018 to January 10,2019.Sixty students from two parallel classes in the fifth grade of primary school were selected as subjects.One class in the two parallel classes serves as the experimental class and the second class serves as the control class.Research devices consist of questionnaires,tests and interviews.By means of SPSS 19.0 system,qualitative and quantitative methods analyze all the data which were collected in the study.The research results show that CALL can arouse the EC students’ enthusiasm for learning English and make the EC students use listening strategies more frequently.Additionally,the EC students’ listening and speaking achievements have been greatly improved.Therefore,it is feasible to apply CALL to English listening and speaking teaching.Finally,the author discusses the enlightenment and suggestions obtained from the study,and hopes that this can give some enlightenment to students’ learning,teachers’ teaching and future researches. |
