| Objectives:This study further points out the influence of fear of missing out as a mediator through the discussion of the basic psychological needs of college students and the status quo of social network addiction.This paper focuses on the following three research purposes:1.Investigate the current situation and characteristics of College Students’ basic psychological needs,social network addiction and fear of missing out.2.To explore the relationship among college students’ basic psychological needs,social network addiction and fear of missing out.3.To explore the intermediary role of fear of missing out in the influence of College Students’ basic psychological needs on social network addiction.Subsequently,this study can further improve the problem of social network addiction of college students through the development of the program of fear of missing out intervention and treatment,and provide some suggestions and references for the current students in such a state.Methods:The basic psychological needs,social network addiction and fear of missing of866 college students were investigated by using the basic psychological needs scale,social network addiction scale and fear of missing out scale,and then the survey data were analyzed to draw conclusions.Conclusions:1.There are significant differences in the dimensions of basic psychological needs of college students in gender and major,and boys are lower than girls’ overall level,science students score lower than arts students’ basic psychological needs.In grade differences,college students’ basic psychological needs,especially the dimensions of competency needs,are quite different,and the differences in other dimensions are not obvious.2.In terms of the total score and dimensions of social network addiction of college students,male students are more addicted to social network than female students.In terms of professional differences,engineering students are more addicted to social network than liberal arts students.The scores of freshmen are lower than those of college students of other grades.The scores of rural students are higher than those of urban and township students,and the degree of social network addiction is higher.3.In the total score and dimensions of measure fear of missing out,male college students are more serious than female college students.The level of fear of missing out of science and engineering students is higher than that of liberal arts students.In the dimension of student origin,the level of fear of missing out of college students from towns and villages is significantly higher than that of urban college students.The level of fear of missing out among different grades is not very significant,and the data of graduate students is higher,the performance is more obvious.4.On the correlation,there is a significant negative correlation between the basic psychological needs of college students and social network addiction,and there is an effective predictive effect.5.As for the mediating effect,the fear of missing out plays a mediating role between basic psychological needs and social network addiction,and the mediating effect is obvious. |
