| With the widespread application of Internet technology and mobile terminals, social media platforms have gradually become the essential part for people to master information trends and enhance social interaction. While bringing great convenience to people’s lives, some users have been over-relied on social media and even some addictive behaviors, which has brought many negative impacts on individual daily life and mental health.Social media addiction is also increasing among college students. However, there is still a lack of more targeted and feasible solutions now on how to effectively improve this addictive behavior.Mindfulness,as a new concept in the health psychology field, has received more attention from researchers in recent years. It can effectively promote the individual’s mental health and cultivate the individual’s positive behavior, also has shown the huge advantage in improving addictive behaviors. This study discusses the inhibitory effect of mindfulness training on social media addiction of college students from the perspective of self-determination theory based on the summary of previous studies.First,a college student from a university in Wuhan was used as a participant to conduct a questionnaire survey to discuss the correlation between the level of mindfulness, fear of missing out and social media addiction, and to mediate the role of missed anxiety between mindfulness and social media addictionSecondly, based on the characteristics of current campus life of domestic college students, referring to the existing short mindfulness therapy and mindfulness intervention methods based on smartphones and applications, design a method of mindfulness training that is more in line with the situation of Chinese universities.Randomly controlled experiments were conducted among college students who voluntarily enrolled to test the actual effect of mindfulness training on improving the level of mindfulness among college students, educing and improving the level of social media addiction.Explore the use and promotion of domestic mindfulness training in college students’ mental health education from it.The main conclusions of the study are as follows:(1)There is a significant correlation between two levels of mindfulness, fear of missing out and social media addiction. It’s the significant negative correlation between the level of mindfulness and social media addiction and fear of missing out,and social media addiction has a significant positive correlation with fear of missing out.(2)Missed anxiety mediates the level of mindfulness and social media addiction. When the individual has a higher level of mindfulness, the fear of missing out is less and the risk of social media addiction is less.Conversely, the lower the individual ’s level of mindfulness, the higher the fear of missing out and the higher the level of social media addiction.(3)Mindfulness training conducted among college students can effectively help individuals improve their level of mindfulness and reduce their social media addiction. |
