With the continuous development of society,civic literacy has gradually become the cornerstone of social development.It is one of the basic literacy that qualified citizens must have when they enter the society.More and more experts realize the importance of civic literacy in children’s growth and development.It is imperative to improve the civic literacy of our citizens.In this critical period,the author tries to find out the problems by analyzing the current situation of primary school students’ civic literacy.After consulting the relevant literature of foreign scholars in the development of civic education,the author sorts out the promotion strategies of primary school students’ civic literacy suitable for China’s education development mode and socialist system,hoping to enrich the relevant theories of primary school students’ civic literacy.This paper is divided into five parts.The first part is the introduction.This paper mainly introduces the research background,research purpose,innovation,practical significance of the research,as well as the relevant research results of experts and scholars at home and abroad on this issue,and selects samples to test the reliability of the self-developed "questionnaire on the status quo of civic literacy of primary school students".The second part is the second chapter.This paper mainly expounds the survey process of students’ civic literacy.The author adopts questionnaire survey,interview and other research methods to conduct a systematic survey of senior students’ civic literacy in X primary school in Shenyang.The third part is the third chapter.From the survey results,the senior students of X primary school in Shenyang City show some problems in the three sections of citizen cognition,citizen emotion and citizen behavior,such as vague mastery of the concept of citizen theory,lack of collective honor and sense of belonging on campus,lack of enthusiasm for class affairs management and so on.The fourth part is the fourth chapter.The main reasons for these problems are summarized as follows: first,the effect of civic education in schools is not good,the lack of systematic education mechanism,and the evaluation of students’ civic literacy is not comprehensive enough;second,families,as the continuation of civic education,do not play a good role in inspiring civic literacy.The fifth part is the fifth chapter.This paper mainly puts forward some promotion strategies,such as building a systematic civic education system,adding civic education into the curriculum plan,integrating civic education into other disciplines,developing civic education in various forms,establishing an effective evaluation mechanism,improving teachers’ civic literacy,and responding positively to family education.
