Knowledge Building theory is an important research theoretical foundation in the field of learning science.It claims that a learning community’s formation should be based on the similarity of the views of learners,through dialogue and interaction to improve perspectives,enhance the level of knowledge building,and achieve the development of higher-order thinking skills.It emphasizes community knowledge as the overall goal of learners in the community.This theory,which focuses on cooperation and mutual assistance,knowledge generation,and high-level thinking ability,fits the current information age’s requirements for talent literacy.Based on this,the author puts forward the core question of this research: how to design learning activities based on the theoretical principles of knowledge building to improve the knowledge building level of learners,cultivate learners’ high-order thinking ability,and adapt to the demand for new talents in the information age.This research includes three parts: knowledge building theory research,learning activity design research and application research.Firstly,based on knowledge building theory and activity theory,it sorts out the seven main elements in learning activities: teaching content,teaching goals,learners,learning community,learning tasks,learning interaction and learning evaluation;secondly,it is closely related to the meanings of twelve principles of Knowledge Building theory,clarify the internal correspondence between the twelve principles and the elements of each learning activity;then put forward design strategies for the learning activity elements according to specific principles;finally integrate these elements to form a complete learning activity process.From this,a complete learning activity plan under Knowledge Building theory has been designed,which takes the viewpoint interaction as means,includes seven stages,covers four levels of knowledge building:individuals,within groups,between groups and within class.In the application research,the researcher selected undergraduates from a class of 2019 in N University as the research object,and carried out teaching practice based on the designed activity plan.Researcher combined Gunawardena’s knowledge building level analysis model,comprehensively used observation method,content analysis method and interview method to analyze the effect of the activity from three aspects: knowledge building level,the achievement degree of teaching goals,and learner’s perception of the activity.Thus verifies the rationality and effectiveness of the learning activities’ design.
