China’s current aging pressure is greater, the proportion of the elderly population aged 65 and above will reach 12.6% in 2019,and the elderly dependency ratio will reach 17.8%.The aging degree of the population will increase and the speed will accelerate. From the third to the sixth census data, the proportion of the elderly aged 65 and above in rural areas of China is respectively higher than the national level of 0.09%,0.17%,0.54% and 1.14%.According to the international standards for the aging society,China’s rural areas have entered the aging society as early as the early 21 st century or even earlier. It can be seen that our country presents the trend of urban-rural inversion on this issue, and the gap between urban and rural areas of aging is still expanding,so the problem of aging risk in rural areas needs to be solved. However, under the current background, there is a big gap among the three pillars of China’s pension system, especially the participation rate of commercial pension insurance in rural areas is still relatively low.The commercial pension insurance with the third pillar as an important supplement needs to be developed, and the current pension system is facing challenges. In rural areas of China, clan organizations linked by blood have constructed an effective informal security network by reducing information asymmetry and moral hazard, which plays a certain role in risk sharing and mutual assistance.Clan network,as an informal system of local society, has the function of social security with commercial insurance, social insurance and other formal insurance systems.Similar in function, clan network can replace commercial endowment insurance, which has a negative impact on the development of this kind of insurance in rural areas. This paper makes an in-depth study on how to recognize the relationship between clan network and rural family commercial endowment insurance demand, and the specific arrangements are as follows: firstly, this paper expounds the relevant theories affecting the demand behavior of family commercial endowment insurance, and analyzes the mechanism of clan network influencing the demand of rural family commercial endowment insurance;secondly, combining with the macro data, this paper analyzes the development trend of China’s commercial endowment insurance market Secondly,it focuses on the reasons that restrict the development of commercial endowment insurance in rural areas, and elaborates from the aspects of system and culture. Then it makes a preliminary analysis of the relationship between clan network and commercial endowment insurance demand combined with micro data. The third chapter analyzes the relationship between clan network and commercial endowment insurance demand based on the data of CFPS in 2018 Finally, based on the previous theoretical analysis and empirical analysis, from the perspective of clan network, government and insurance company, this paper puts forward relevant countermeasures and suggestions to promote the development of commercial endowment insurance in rural areas with the third pillar as an important supplement and improve the rural social security system. The empirical results show that clan network has a significant negative impact on the decision-making of rural family commercial endowment insurance, which confirms the existence of "substitution effect" or "crowding out effect".Through grouping regression,we find that clan network has heterogeneous influence on the participation of commercial endowment insurance of families with different age groups, different education levels and different income groups, and the crowding out effect mainly exists in the middle-aged group, low education level group and low-income group. In the aspect of mechanism, clan network plays a restraining role in the decision-making of commercial endowment insurance mainly through the radius effect and social capital effect. Finally, the further discussion found that by increasing the investment in village education and improving the transportation infrastructure conditions in the village,it can not only promote the decision-making behavior of rural family commercial endowment insurance, but also balance the negative effect of clan network on the demand of commercial endowment insurance, and effectively alleviate the inhibitory effect of clan network on the development of rural family commercial endowment insurance.
