The Sociological Analysis Of "Fan" Subculture

With the development of the internet and the improvement of material well-being,brand-new sub cultural phenomena are emerging constantly.Fan as the code name for fans and the fan subcultural phenomena which appeared in the online society has emerged in the various social networking platforms like Weibo,Tieba and so on,becoming a unique part among numerous subcultural phenomena.Fan subculture refers to a sum of series of values,behavior patterns,Group rules and cultural products generated by fans on the walk of following idols in the networking society.it is an emerging subcultural phenomenon.In the networking society,fans transferred from individual activities to group activities,and consciously attract more followers to join them.So the scope of the influence has tremendously increased.Fan culture is not only an emerging cultural phenomenon,but also a kind of special social phenomenon.Through the representation of fan subculture,we can explore how the fan groups campaign in the networking society.At present,the popular fun subculture in the networking society is collective blind and commercial and it will promote the formation of unhealthy social atmosphere,which is not beneficial to construct a harmonious society.Therefore,the interpretation of the fan subcultural phenomenon from sociology aspect will better explore the reasons for the formation of fan subculture.In this way can we guide the culture in a objective and fair way to promote the reasonable development of fan subculture.In this paper,the main field of fan subculture—Sina Weibo,Wechat,and social media platforms were selected to conduct real-time observation and in-depth interview.Combined with relevant theory of subculture,the characteristics,the functions and the influences of fan subculture were studied.The paper is mainly divided into the following five parts: the first is introduction,which is mainly about the purpose and significance of this study,literature review of fan subculture,research ideas and research methods,etc.The second part is the analysis of fans of Jackson Yee,mainly including their daily behaviors,characters and classification as well as the group organization spontaneously formed by fans.The third part is the analysis of characteristics and reasons of fan subculture.It analyses the characteristics of the fan subculture from the perspective of subculture,and then explores the reasons.Collectivity,blindness and commerciality appeared in the fan subculture,which is the embodiment of the rebellious spirit of subculture.The fourth part is the function and influence of fan subculture.The existence of fan subculture can spread public benefits,and also satisfy fans’ personal emotional projection and emotional identity,which supplement the mainstream culture at the same time,realizing the diversified development of culture.Nevertheless,fan subculture is inundated with online bullying,and some morbid psychology cannot be ignored,which result in the threat to the social integrity and impact on mainstream values.The fifth part is mainly about the trendency of Fan subculture.Through the sociological interpretation of fan subculture,idols,fans themselves and mass media should make joint efforts to over come the negative influences of fan subculture and realize the harmonious development of the society.
