Research On The Influencing Factors And Mechanism Of College Students’ Prosocial Behavior

Prosocial behavior is an important aspect of individual social development,which plays a very important role in improving individual well-being,enhancing interpersonal communication and promoting the harmonious development and construction of society.In view of the important role of prosocial behavior in personal development,it is necessary to study the influencing factors and mechanism of prosocial behavior.According to the ecosystem theory and social cognition theory,social cognition is the key factor that affects college students’ prosocial behavior.In view of this,this study investigates the influence of social cognitive system and ecosystem on College Students’ prosocial behavior and its mechanism,in order to provide effective theoretical support for the generation and promotion of College Students’ prosocial behavior.In this study,1100 college students were investigated with Prosocial Tendencies Measures,the Hebrew version of Interpersonal Reactivity Index-C,The Gratitude Questionnaire-6 and Perceived Social Support scale,and the influence mechanism of empathy on College Students’ prosocial behavior was explored.The main results are as follows:(1)Empathy,gratitude,perceived social support(family support,friend support,other support)have positive predictive effect on College Students’ prosocial behavior.(2)The results show that there are significant differences in gender,only child,class cadre of prosocial behavior;significant differences in gender of empathy;significant differences in gender of gratitude and mother’s education;significant differences in gender,only child,family residence and parents’ education of perceived social support.(3)Empathy,gratitude and perceived social support positively predict college students’ prosocial behavior.Empathy is positively correlated with prosocial behavior,gratitude is positively correlated with prosocial behavior,family support is positively correlated with prosocial behavior,friend support is positively correlated with prosocial behavior,and other support is positively correlated with prosocial behavior.(4)Gratitude plays a partial mediating role between empathy and prosocial behavior,The mediating effect of gratitude accounted for 10.99% of the total effect.(5)Family support plays a moderating role between empathy and prosocial behavior,and between empathy and gratitude,friend support plays a moderating role between empathy and prosocial behavior,while other supports are not significant.Therefore,the following conclusions can be drawn:(1)The influencing factors of College Students’ prosocial behavior are empathy,gratitude,perceived social support(family support,friend support,other support).(2)The results show that the open prosocial behavior of boys is more than that of girls,and the altruistic prosocial behavior of girls is more than that of boys;the prosocial behavior of only children is more than that of non only children;the prosocial behavior of class cadres is more than that of non class cadres;the empathy level of girls is higher than that of boys;the gratitude level of girls is higher than that of boys;the higher the education level of mother,the higher the gratitude level of college students;the level of perceived social support of female students is higher than that of male students;the level of social support of only child is higher than that of non only child;the level of perceived social support of college students whose family residence is urban is higher than that of college students whose family residence is rural;the higher the education level of parents,the higher the level of perceived social support of college students.(3)Gratitude plays a partial mediating role between empathy and prosocial behavior.Family support plays a moderating role between empathy and prosocial behavior,and between empathy and gratitude,friend support plays a moderating role between empathy and prosocial behavior.
