Research On The Empathy, Wearing And Altruistic Behavior Of College Students

Altruistic behavior is a conscientious and voluntary behavior considering others benefits,and it is thought as pro-social behavior with highest level.Undergraduate students act as an important social group,their value concept and value orientation determine those of the whole society to some degree in the future.Cultivation on undergraduate altruistic behavior is the aims of the of moral education.The thesis started from individual factors analysis to implore current situation of the undergraduate students and the correlation among empathy ability,gratitude and altruistic behavior.The research results provide theoretical foundation for university ideological and political education.The thesis focused on the status in quo on altruistic behavior,gratitude and empathy ability for the college students(including vocational students and undergraduates)and analyzed the relationship among the three behaviors.The participants are composed of 138 undergraduates in a common university in Shanghai and 145 junior college students in a higher vocational colleges.The research investigated students with college students' altruistic behavior questionnaire,college students' empathy ability questionnaire and college students gratitude questionnaire,and discussed to the students with individual interview method.The thesis drew the following conclusions through empirical studies.(1)Most of the college students have altruistic notions and overall altruistic behavior is generally favorable.Altruistic behavior expresses academic difference and altruism wills of the junior college students obviously precede those of the undergraduate students.Altruistic behavior also shows region differences,and students from Shanghai have higher level than those from other cities.However,altruistic behavior exhibit no significant differences on other demographicvariables.(2)The overall empathy abilities are little higher than medium.Empathy levels exists academic difference and undergraduate students obtains higher scores in empathy ability than the junior college students.empathy level shows gender differences,empathy abilities of undergraduate girls exceeds those of undergraduate boys.(3)Students possess pretty good gratitude level.The level also exhibits academic difference,fulfillment of undergraduate students obviously exceeds that of the junior college students.Gratitude level changes with gender,and university girls have more fulfillment than university boys.(4)There lies obvious correlations among empathy ability,gratitude,and altruistic behavior of university students.(5)The empathy ability and gratitude levels can predict altruistic behavior of university students to some degree.(6)Gratitude partly serves as an intermediary between empathy ability and altruistic behavior.
