An Analysis of the "Laborization" of Cyber Nationalists SPECIALIZATION: Journalism and Communication POSTGRADUATE: Li Muchen MENTOR: Professor Ding Hegen ABSTRACT:In the new media era,online nationalists use social media channels to spread nationalist speech,convey nationalist sentiments,and carry out nationalist actions.On the surface,supporters of nationalism vent their emotions and express their opinions for the purpose of patriotism and feelings.However,from the perspective of dissemination of political economy,the proponents of nationalism have a tendency to be "labourized" in a hidden way in digital media-using "nationalism" as an intermediary,on the one hand,capital uses nationalism to create "Agreement" penetrates the exploitation of the surplus value of the supporters of nationalism in daily life;on the other hand,supporters of nationalism are willing to pay "labor" driven by nationalism.Starting from cyber nationalism,this article analyzes how nationalism in the era of digital economy acts as an intermediary factor,enabling nationalists to contribute labor for free under a conscious and voluntary consciousness and become a "digital labor" for capital.The labor-oriented image of nationalism advocates is mainly reflected in three aspects: behind the mass content production and traffic import of "emoji packs" and "barrages" of nationalism advocates are social media such as station B,Facebook and Twitter.Make a profit;behind the games with strong national sentiments represented by "Red Alert 2: The Glory of the Republic",nationalism is also the driving force,and nationalist supporters are put to work in the image of "workers" for the game The developers and operators accumulate capital;under the perspective of fan nationalism,fans like "A Zhong Ge ","fans girl" and other fan-seeking behaviors,as well as the list,hype and purchase of national tide products,etc.To a certain extent,proponents of nationalism have also become "laborers" who help capital to pursue profits.There are many reasons that drive nationalists’ laboring behavior,but at any time,nationalists should be wary that their most authentic and simple homeland feelings and national sentiments should not be used by capital in a deceived state.All should be clear that their actions for collective honor and national identity should not be overworked and commoditized.
