| Excessive gender wage gap is an important manifestation of inequality in the income distribution of residents.Efforts to eliminate gender wages are conducive to maintaining social equity.Education is a powerful tool for workers to obtain high wages, and it also provides a broad space for narrowing the gender wage gap. However, the increase in women’s education has not been accompanied by a corresponding increase in wages. An important reason is that since the founding of New China, the average education level of Chinese workers has increased year by year, and more and more employees have mismatched their own education and professional needs. As a result, the skills acquired from education are not fully utilized and the returns are low.It is precisely based on the current situation that there is a large number of employees’ education and occupational mismatches in the labor market. In order to effectively study the impact of education on the gender wage gap, this article combines the demand and supply of education for occupations in the actual labor market and uses the 2013 China Household Income Projects(CHIP)data, from the perspective of education and occupation matching, studies how education affects wages and thus the gender wage gap. This article is generally carried out in accordance with the analysis logic of "theoretical analysis-proposing hypotheses-current situation analysis of educational occupation matching-model analysis and hypothesis verification-summarizing conclusions and proposing policies",and analyzes its impact on the basis of verifying the actual impact of education on wages The impact of the gender wage gap.The research results show that:(1)The rate of return of occupational requirements for years of education and years of over-education is significantly positive at each wage quantile, and gradually increases with the improvement of the quantile. The under-educated years have always had a significant effect on wages.Negative effects. With the increase in wage quantiles, the negative effects continue to increase.Women’s education returns are not linearly greater than men’s,but they will be significantly manifested after they have reached the required educational years for occupations;(2)China’s urban employees The gender wage gap presents a "sticky floor effect",and education that meets professional requirements can narrow the gender wage gap in terms of endowment effects and structural effects.Effective matching of education and occupation can better eliminate gender “discrimination” rather than simply increase female education;(3)Mincer’s equation overestimates the role of education in narrowing the gender wage gap, because men are compared to women,The poor matching of education occupations leads to low actual returns to education;(4)The impact of occupational requirements education and over-education on wages is particularly important for people with high academic qualifications, and the punishment effect of insufficient years of education on wage income is becoming more and more obvious. For low-educated women, the low-educated group showed a larger gender wage gap,and insufficient education would make women suffer more serious "discrimination";(5)For young and middle-aged workers, there is almost no difference in the return rate of actual education years between men and women. When taking into account the matching of education occupations, female occupations require a higher rate of return on education years than men,but the rate of return on years of overeducation is lower than that of men.The wage losses caused by insufficient education are almost the same between the two.For middle-aged and elderly workers, the actual rate of return to education still shows the characteristics of high females and low males. For both types of workers, the more women themselves can meet the requirements of their careers with their own education, the more they can resist the negative effects of discrimination. |
