| Primary education is not only the basic stage of school education but also the key period of students’ ability improvement and personality formation.Primary education is of great importance in affecting the cultivation of the talents in our country and the development of national quality.Primary school teachers play a key role in primary school education.In addition to theoretical attainment and working ability,their beliefs and mental health level also profoundly affect the quality of primary school education.With the change of social environment and the promotion of the trend of global education reform,our country actively promotes a new round of basic education curriculum reform.But at the same time,under the background of quality education,the society has earnestly hoped for the occupation of teachers.The professional pressure of primary school teachers has been rising recently,which has hidden dangers in mental health and affects work engagement and teaching quality.The professional requirements of primary school teachers are becoming higher and higher so that the work pressure is rising.Teachers’ beliefs are facing challenges.And there are hidden dangers in the teachers’ mental health,which affect the work investment and teaching quality.In recent years,President Xi Jinping has repeatedly pointed out the importance of education,and proposed that we should improve the quality of teachers,protect the rights and interests of teachers,and enable teachers to have a sense of happiness,achievement and social prestige.Therefore,out of the help to the psychological development of primary school teachers and the maintenance of basic education,this paper has carried out a research on teacher’s belief of primary school teachers and their work engagement,which improves the social and national understanding of primary school teachers’ mental health,and provides reference value for improving primary school teachers’ mental health and enhancing teachers’ work engagement.Research methods:The study distributed 430 questionnaires in Jiangsu and Anhui,including teachers’ beliefs scale,teaching efficacy scale,teachers’ occupational well-being scale and UWES to examine primary school teachers’ level of teachers’ beliefs,teaching efficacy,teachers’ professional well-being and work engagement and the relationship between the four variables,using the spss22.0 to descriptive statistics and variance analysis,using the data with Amos21.0 to explain the internal mechanism between teachers’ beliefs on work engagement,focusing on the chain intermediary effects of teaching efficacy and teachers’ occupational well-being.This paper found the internal mechanism of the influence of primary school teachers’ teacher’s belief on their work engagement.Research results:(1)Teachers’ beliefs score of primary school teachers(4.39±0.54),teaching efficacy score of teachers(4.33±0.72),Professional well-being score of teachers(4.15±0.57),work engagement score of teachers(3.91±1.08);(2)There were significant differences in demography variables,such as educational background,teaching age,region and school-running nature,among primary school teachers in terms of their teacher’s belief,teaching efficacy,and work engagement。(3)There was a positive correlation between teachers’ beliefs,teaching efficacy,teachers’ occupational well-being and the level of work engagement(r=0.376,r=0.414,r=0.374,p<0.01).There was a positive correlation between teaching efficacy,teachers’ occupational well-being and the level of work engagement(r=0.202,r=0.210,p<0.01).There was a positive correlation between teaching efficacy and teachers’ occupational well-being(r 0.313,p<0.01).(4)Teachers’ beliefs of primary school teachers could influence work engagement by influencing teaching efficacy,then teachers’ occupational well-being,that is,teaching efficacy→ teachers’ occupational well-being played a chain intermediary role between teachers’ beliefs and work engagement.Research conclusion:(1)Teachers’ beliefs of primary school teachers were open and developmentally oriented.Their teaching efficacy and teachers’ occupational well-being were at a high level,meanwhile,their work engagement is above the average level;(2)Teachers’ beliefs of primary school teachers played a positive role in predicting work engagement.Teachers’ beliefs could further influence work engagement by influencing teaching efficacy and teachers’ occupational well-being. |
