A Practical Research Of Social Work On The Production Of Public Space ——Taking T Commonweal Library Of L Community As An Example

Community is the basic unit of urban residents’ life and urban governance in China.And public space is an important place for community residents’ life.Residents promote the solution of public affairs and enhance community identity and sense of belonging through the participation and communication in public space.At present,there is a widespread lack of public space,which seriously restricts the satisfaction of of residents’ needs for a better life and the development of community governance.Currently,main practitioners in the field of public space are the architects,planners,etc.As one of the important forces in community governance,the participation of social workers has not been sufficiently demonstrated.During the shift of Western sociology from "production in space" to "production of space",the creative power of space production is gradually highlighted.Therefore,production of public space is endowed with more expectations in jointly facing and dealing with community life issues,which provides a new growth point for social work with infinite possibilities to intervene in community governance.The study adopts the method of case study,taking the space practice of social workers in L community T commonweal library as an example,to explore the practical path of social work involved in public space production and the significance of this practice to public space under the guidance of production of space theory.T library is a public space born in the context of the epidemic,serving community childcare and mutual assistance.Social workers participate in its construction as operators.By transforming physical properties,building network platforms,carrying out community activities,and creating community collective memory,The production of physical space,cyber space,social space and spiritual space has been promoted.Through the practice of space production in these four dimensions,the openness,heterogeneity and commonality of the T library have been improved,that is,the publicity of the library has been reshaped.The publicity of public space is the value of the existence of public space and the basis for the development of public space.Therefore,this study shows that in the process of intervening in the production of public space,through the production of multiple spaces,social work promotes the remodeling of the publicity of public space,maintains the survival and development of public space,and promotes it to become a better service for community residents to satisfy the needs of residents.But what needs to be reflected is that there are some imperfections in this practice.In the future,it is necessary to pay more attention to the service details and improve the service system.It is necessary to insist on maintaining the publicity of public spaces,and to actively mobilize community elites to participate.Public space has huge development potential in community governance and deserves more people to participate in it.
