Research On The Path Of Social Work Promoting The Construction Of Community Public Space

The Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China proposed to strengthen and innovate social governance,and promote the shift of the focus of social governance to the grassroots level.The community is the "nerve terminal" of the party committee and government to contact and serve the masses,the "last mile" of social governance,and an important part of grass-roots social governance.However,community governance is difficult and cannot be fully supported by community committees alone.More and more social workers are participating in community governance under the guidance of policies.Community public space is the main place for community governance,but many communities have problems such as lack of public space,idle public space,and failure to make good use of public space.Social workers are also faced with issues such as "how to play the role of public space in community governance" and "how to operationalize community public space in the process of practice".This paper adopts the case study method to investigate the practical projects of Y social work organization to promote the creation of public space in the P community.It adopts participatory observation and semi-structured interviews,and takes the social planning model and the theory of empowerment as the theoretical perspective to analyze the existence of the public space in the P community.Main problems and causes,and discuss the path of social work to promote the creation of community public space.Through research,it is found that the way social work promotes the creation of community public space can intervene in community public spaces of different functional types at the individual,interpersonal,and environmental levels.At the individual level,social workers can start by transforming and governing spaces,and in the process cultivate residents’ public spirit and awareness of rules,create better physical public space conditions,and ensure the normal and orderly operation of physical public spaces;On the interpersonal level,social workers can start by discovering hobbies and promoting interactions,cultivating interest-based self-organizations,establishing mutually supportive relationships,attracting more residents to move from home spaces to community public spaces,and creating a rich and diverse culture.Public space;at the environmental level,social workers can start from unblocking channels and building systems,creating online discussion platforms and offline discussion spaces,improving the ability of discussion subjects,and creating a political public space for the participation of multiple subjects.
