The imidazolium-type ionic liquids were synthesized by the N-methylimidazole as important raw materials The ionic liquids have wide applications in a lot of domains,such as electrochemistry,organic synthesis,extraction and nanomaterials.Tubular reactor has the advantages of short reaction time,high yield,continuous production and small size.The synthesis of N-methylimidazole from formaldehyde,glyoxal,ammonia,and methylamine in tubular reactor has been studied in this paper.The effect of the different reaction temperature,reaction pressure,ratio of raw materials and liquid hourly space velocity were systematically studied.The optimal yield of N-methylimidazole was 83.19%and the conversion of glyoxal was 99.08%when the molar ratio of formaldehyde/glyoxal/ammonia/methylamine was 1.05:0.95:1:1.05,the reaction temp-erature was 125?,the reaction pressure was 1 atm,liquid hourly space velocity was 1.11 h'1.The content of N-methylimidazole in the organic phase was 87.96%.The theoretical analysis was based on experimental results.The intrinsic kinetics of the synthesis of N-methylimidazole has been studied in this paper with operating condition:reaction temperature(383.15-403.15 K),reaction pressure(0.1 Mpa),liquid hourly space velocity was 1.11 h-1,molar ratio of HCHO to NH3 0.95-1.05:1,molar ratio of C2H2O2 to NH2CH3 0.9-1:1.The reaction activated energy was 13.0426 kJ/mol,and the reaction orders for formaldehyde,glyoxal,ammonia,and methylamine were 0.62,0.77,0.60 and 0.99 respectively.The intrinsic kinetics model were reliable and adequate after being testified with statistic tests.And the equation is as follows:(?)The process package was designed according to the previous studies.The design foundation,process description,material equilibrium,process flow diagram,layout of equipment and apparatus list were described in this paper.The research provides the basis for manufacture of N-methylimidazole synthesis.
