Research On The Impact Of Environmental Information Disclosure On The Performance Of Energy Companies

With the frequent occurrence of global energy shortage and pollution incidents,environmental improvement and governance are urgent.As one of the important producers of resource consumption and environmental pollution,energy enterprises should bear their social responsibilities in environmental aspects.In recent years,China has gradually strengthened environmental supervision and encouraged enterprises to take the initiative to disclose relevant environmental information.However,the situation of environmental information disclosure of energy enterprises is not ideal,lacking the correct cognition of the role of environmental information disclosure.Therefore,104 energy enterprises were selected as research samples in this paper to clarify the impact of environmental information disclosure on their performance,so as to help energy enterprises understand the role of environmental information disclosure,achieve the sustainable development goals,and provide theoretical support and practical experience for solving environmental problems.This paper draws the following conclusions through empirical research: first,the environmental information disclosure level of China's energy industry is at a low level,and the disclosure content and form are not unified;Secondly,the overall environmental information disclosed by energy enterprises has no significant effect on their short-term performance,while the environmental financial information has a negative effect on them.Thirdly,the overall environmental and financial information disclosed have a significant positive effect on the long-term performance of the enterprise,and the overall environmental information has a more significant effect.Finally,this paper provides some suggestions on system and theory construction and internal governance of energy enterprises.
