In recent years, the Internet of things(IoT)has been developing rapidly, and smart home which is based on IoT technology is increasingly active in the home furnishing market. As the central console of the popular smart home, the cloud-based platform improves information processing capacity and resource utilization, and reduces the complexity of household devices and realizes the linkage between devices. While smart home brings great convenience and comfort to people's life, security, privacy and other issues also follow. In order to complete and optimize services for users,cloud-based platforms collect a large amount of household device data, which contains users' privacy information(such as user activities, health status and working hours,etc.).Given the fact that a large amount of data is transferred to the cloud, one effective way to protect user privacy is to reduce the amount of data collected by the cloud.Because platform executes automate rules based on collected device data and then makes home smart, therefore we can reduce device data going to cloud by filtering out the data which cannot let any rules installed by user execute successfully. This paper proposes an efficient data control scheme IoTRemedy(Remedy of IoT platform),which can not only filter data but also execute most of the automation rules in the home network, and only report some necessary data that cannot be processed locally to the cloud platform, which greatly reduces data flowing to the cloud platform. The main work is as follows:(1)By analyzing the cloud-based platform which controls the smart home, especially rules which realize intelligent automation through the platform,we propose the basic version of IoTRemedy which only control device data.Based on whether there is service data in each part of the rule,we design a rule decomposition algorithm, which splits each original rule(installed by users on platform clouds)into a local rule(LRule)and a cloud rule(CRule),therefore data related to local rules stays at local, and data related to cloud rules is transmitted to the cloud platform. While keeping as much data as possible locally, the combined effect of local rules and cloud rules accomplish the same functions as the original rules in cloud platform installed by user, which not only achieves more data protection but also ensures the normal execution of rules. On the basis of existing work,we propose a non-intrusive and practical system which mitigates data leakage problems in the mainstream cloud-based smart home architecture without relying on platform modifications.(2)On the basis of the basic version,we propose the enhanced version of IoTRemedy which controls full-type data.By implementing some services locally which originally are provided by the cloud platform,it can protect more device data even service data that may contain private information. Finally, two versions of IoTRemedy are evaluated extensively on the representative SmartThings platform and IFTTT platform and compared with the existing work. The results show that the system is effective in protecting users' private data.
