The Study Of Thai And Chinese As Seen In The Zazi In Siam Pavilion

The broad sense of Hua-Yi-I-Yu recorded several ethnic groups' language which was denoted by Chinese characters,and Chinese character denoting Thai vocabulary of Xianluoguan-Yi-Yu is part of Hua-Yi-I-Yu.There are four versions of Hua-Yi-I-Yu,Xianluoguan-Yi-Yu can be found in Hua-Yi-I-Yu's version B,C,and D.This dissertation is focus on Xianluoguan-Yi-Yu(version B);there are 594 Thai characters in Xianluoguan-Yi-Yu which divided into 18 categories.All these 594 Thai characters will be transcript to Latin form,and analyze the Thai phonetic system.Compare the Thai phonetic structure with Chinese,we can learn the actual situation of Thai and chinese at that time.The whole dissertation consists of five chapters as follow:Chapter one is the introduction,which consists of the research objects,significance,expectations,material and approaches for analyzing.The material which published by Beijing Library Publishing House and the material which collected in Fudan university will be introduce in this dissertation.Based on the comprehensive analysis of previous studies,we summarizes the experimental studies of Xianluoguan-Yi-Yu.The second chapter is mainly on different versions of Xianluoguan-Yi-Yu and try to illustrate the stylistic rules of Xianluoguan-Yi-Yu,three aspects will be mention:the relationship between Siamese and Thai,Xianluoguan-Yi-Yu's version and Xianluoguan-Yi-Yu's stylistic rules.The third chapter will concerntate on Xianluoguan-Yi-Yu's phonetic features and its transcription.Transcription rules of Chinese characters denoting Thai vocabulary was mentioned in Prapin Manomaivibool's Ph.D thesis.These rules will be used in this dissertation.An elaborate description and summary of Xianluoguan-Yi-Yu's phonetic system is needed.Based on the previous chapter,the forth chapter summed up the sound system,will give more details of initials and finals.A comparative study of Xianluoguan-Yi-Yu and Guangyun which provided more expressions of the chinese sound changes from Ming dynasty to Qing dynasty.The fifth chapter is about the features and changes of initials reflected in voiced sound,sound changes of Zhi,Zhuang & Zhang group,the changes of yin rhyme,yang rhyme & ru rhyme.These three aspects can help us observe the Chinese dialect histotical evolution.The sixth chapter is the summary of the whole dissertation.
