Franz Kafka(1983-1924)is regarded as the pioneer and master of western modernism literature.With the rise of Western post-war reflection literature,Kafka's works were widely accepted and formed a worldwide Kafka fever.Although Kafka's female images in his works are not the main characters,they are still indispensable.They may promote the development of the storyline,or set off the male protagonist on the side.Therefore,the female images in Kafka's works also have certain research value.Pu Songling(1640-1715),known as Mr.Liao Zhai,is a famous short story writer in China.There are more than 200 distinctive female images in his representative work Liao Zhai Zhi Yi.The writer uses bizarre and vivid plots to hide women's pursuit of freedom and love.The study of female images is one of the inescapable contents of the study of Liao Zhai Zhi Yi.This paper takes the female images in Kafka and Pu Songling's works as the research object,tries to explore the causes of the female images in their works from the three aspects of the two authors' family,work background and their era;analyzes the works from the commonalities and differences between female images and the writing methods of the two writers shaping the female image,in order to achieve the purpose of analyzing the creative characteristics of the two writers.
