Reference is a very important problem in linguistic research, which is the relationship between linguistic expression and the referent. From traditional logical semantics to pragmatic cognition, reference has always been the focus of scholars' research. As an important means of coherence and cohesion, scholars at home and abroad have studied referring expression from the perspective of conversation and discourse. The study of Japanese referring expression mainly focuses on the textual cohesion function of referring expression. From the perspective of cognitive linguistics, there are relatively few studies on Japanese referring expression. This paper analyzes referential expression from the perspective of cognitive linguistics.First of all,it discusses the phenomenon and mechanism of reference extension, and analyzes metaphorical reference and metonymic reference in the novel.Secondly, the first 12 chapters of Murakami's original Japanese novel 1Q84 and Shi Xiaowei's Chinese translation are selected as the control texts, and the referential expressions are classified.By comparing the referring expressions in the original text and the translation, the differences in referring expressions and the cognitive factors that cause the differences are analyzed.
