In modern western literature,cities have become the main characters of novels.Writers,cities and texts constitute the city scene and literary map that exist simultaneously.Orhan Pamuk,winner of the 2006 Nobel Prize for Literature,is just such a writer who writes about the city,while Istanbul in his works presents a unique style due to its special history and culture.Starting from the point of view that Istanbul is the main character in Pamuk's novels,this paper,by analyzing the creative ideas and specific texts,deeply studies the problem of how Pamuk writes Istanbul,and probes into the new symbolic problems in the East-West relations caused by this. |
