A Primer On The T-professional English-Chinese Translation Practice Report

The source text for translation for the Translation Report is selected from the first part of A Primer on the T-professional.The purpose of the source text is to define T-professional and inform and support the demands for new talents in the workplace.T-professional designs constitute basic requirements in higher education,which are conducive to the education and training of talents for the future workplace demands.As the source text belongs to information text,aiming to convey accurate information to the target readers,this translation report chooses Skopos Theory as its theoretical subscription and undertakes to explore the specific application of the three principles of Skopos Theory,namely,the skopos rule,the coherence rule and the fidelity rule in translation practice.Through this translation practice report,the translator gets a better understanding not only of the current development in American higher education,but also a deeper appreciation of the linguistic features of educational discourse.In the case study,according to the translation strategies,the translator solves the practical problems in terms of vocabulary and translation of inanimate subjects.It is my hope that this translation practice report can provide a useful and timely reference and guidance for the reform and development of higher education under way in China.More importantly,it helps to add to the experience for the future translation practice through the analysis of linguistic features of educational discourse and provision of suggestions for translation of academic texts in the future.
