A Study On The C-E Translation Of Academic Text From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

Different from literary works or popular writings,the academic works are research-oriented,which have far-reaching effect in spreading,developing and innovating the academic culture.And the translation of academic works is conducive to promote the international academic exchanges.In recent years,more and more people begin to pay attention to the academic translation.Although there are a variety of translated academic works at present,the excellent are few.Based on it,it is of great value to explore the translation of the academic works.Based on Studies of Chines e-English Translation—A Systemic Functional Linguistics Approach,the thesis mainly selects the Chapter Six—The Appraisal Theory and Translation Studies as the translation material,aiming at concretely analyzing the translation techniques and methods of this linguistics work from the perspective of the Skopos theory.As the academic work,the original text has some distinctive characteristics which complicate the translation,for example:there are large numbers of terms and long sentences.Meanwhile,it is also featured with clear logic and compact structure.The Skopos theory puts emphasis on the purpose of the translation,which provides the solid theoretical basis for translators to flexibly choose translation methods in accordance with their purposes.Therefore,it is necessary to apply the Skopos theory in the translation of the academic text.Under the guidance of three rules of the Skopos theory,this thesis tends to adopt the case analysis and explore the corresponding practical translation methods and effective techniques respectively from three levels—the word level,the sentence level and the textual level in order to ensure the accuracy of the translation;be faithful to the original text;and further stress the feasibility and application value of the Skopos theory in the translation study.
