Pang Xunqin's Modernist Ideology And Practical Significance

Pang Xunqin(1906-1985)is an outstanding artist and art educator in China,who has been pursuing art for a lifetime and achieved great achievements.Throughout his life,he has been constantly searching up and down to explore a way of modern art with development and mobility,which is regarded as the father of modern art in China.By studying in France,he absorbed the advanced ideas of western modernism art,innovated continuously in art creation and achieved remarkable achievements.He is involved in the fields of painting,arts and crafts design,decoration art research,and he is also the founder of Arts and crafts education in New China.Pang's artistic creation and education laid an important foundation for the modernization of Chinese art.This paper focuses on the following four directions:the formation process of his modernism art concept,the establishment of juelan society to carry out the modern art movement,the participation in China's modern design education,and the development of China's traditional decorative art research,to carry out research on his modern art concept and art practice.Through the analysis of Pang's literature,works,papers,paintings,magazines and other materials.On this basis,it expounds Pang's modern art concept and practice,and highlights his outstanding contribution and historical significance in the process of Chinese art modernization.Based on the germination,development,formation and practice of his modern art consciousness,this paper studies related issues.In the first stage,against the background of the decline of Chinese painting in the early 20th century and the vigorous development of modern art and decorative art centered in Paris in the west,Pang Xunqin's early experience of studying abroad was narrated to show the budding process of his modernism consciousness and the influence of western modern art on him.In the second stage,after Pang's return to China,he initiated Juelan society,broke the shackles of tradition,studied pure art,and explored the value and significance of traditional Chinese culture.The establishment and activities of Juelan society symbolize the spread of western culture to the East in the field of Chinese painting and raise the banner of the modernization of Chinese painting art.In the past exhibitions of Juelan society,Pang's creation is divided into two parts.The first two exhibitions mainly show the art world pursuing pure form,and the last two exhibitions add the factors reflecting the social real life to the paintings,which has profound social practical significance.Pang's artistic activities in Juelan society were of great social value,which brought a new wind to the dull Chinese painting circle at that time,provided a development direction for the confused art circle,and reflected the efforts of Chinese artists to absorb foreign cultures and the exploration process of affirming the excellent traditions of the national culture.In the third stage,Pang's exploration in the deeper fields of ethnology,archaeology and anthropology has promoted the development of modern art theory and modern art discipline,established China Academy of Arts and crafts,and laid a foundation for arts and crafts education.He went deep into the mountains to seek the roots of his national art and culture.He was amazed at the beauty of the colorful ancient Chinese decorative art,which strengthened his ideal of engaging in the creation and research of decorative art.On this basis,combined with its exploration and cognition of the development of Chinese and Western decorative arts and industrial society,the Chinese arts and crafts education system is established.The development of the new socialist Chinese arts and crafts industry is difficult,and the related education is even more difficult.Pang Xunqin,fearing no hardship,has become a pioneer in this field with the spirit of Chinese traditional taxi.He adheres to the firm modernist art viewpoint,advocates the design of products with the modern design idea that adapts to the industrialization construction and the people's daily life needs,advocates the education idea that combines art and science,absorbs the education idea of Bauhaus,emphasizes the importance of science and technology in the modern design,and combines the modern technology with the traditional folk technology,and individualizes Art creation and collective design art education are closely combined,and finally integrated,to build a new China's arts and crafts education system,which has become an important part of his later artistic pursuit and artistic achievements.
